All About Us!
2024
We are Back!
Church services are vibrant, and spirit filled! Wednesday Bible Study is engaging and provocative – challenging us to look in the mirror, and to think deeply about what we can do so that we don’t become a “deceased church.” (Bible Study is based on the book, Autopsy of a Deceased Church by Thom S. Rainer). Thursday Prayer meeting is being revitalized as a most important corporate worship service to God. We celebrated Easter Resurrection Service with Rev. Benjamin H. Parrot, Sr. of Christian Fellowship MBC and his congregation, renewing that fellowship which has been shared for several years.
On April 6 , the Hope Ministry sponsored the second of a series for 1st Time Homebuyers. These workshops include financial planning and budgeting in addition to all you need to know about buying a home. Various community experts including real estate, first time buyer counselors and bankers are affiliated with this series! If you hope to buy a home or if you are already a homeowner and would like to learn more, please stay tuned for our next installment!
We are looking forward to our 2024 Women’s Conference Retreat which will be held from Thursday, May 16th to Sunday, May 19 th. Our theme is “Sisterhood Community” based on Ecclesiastes 4: 9-10 which reads in part, “ Two are better than one…if either of them falls down one can help the other up…” Four remarkable women of God are the guest speakers: Rev. Gloria Jackson – Davis, Rev. Elisa Baptiste, Minister Mikel Foster, and Sister Marilyn Pickens! We know that this will be a powerful weekend of fellowship and faith! Please contact any member of the FBC Women’s Ministry.
Our 74th Church Anniversary will begin with service on Wednesday, June 5th at 7:00 pm culminating with two services on Sunday, June 9th at 11:00 am and 4:00 pm. . Our theme is “Consecrating, Committing and Celebrating” ( Psalm 37:5 and Proverbs 16:3 ). We are truly grateful to God that he has allowed us to be here for 74 years!! We are excited about a new year, anew Pastor and renewal in Christ Jesus.
Vacation Bible School is around the corner! Save the dates of June 10th to the 14th. Greater New Bethel will be hosting in their beautiful new church and FB will partner with them as we did last year. We pray that this year will be even better than the last! Our theme is “God’s Superheroes”; and by the end of the week, we hope that we all have become superheroes for Christ! This event will be packed with fun experiences, food and fellowship! The only thing missing is YOU and your family!! Please contact any member of the Christian Education Ministry for additional information.
Finally – If you have been praying about your personal service and purpose at FB, please consider this: If you are you dynamic, energetic, committed, passionate about learning and teaching, then First Baptist needs you! We are looking for a Sunday School Superintendent who has a vision for learning inside and outside the classroom. Sunday School is where foundational Bible study frames our Christian and Baptist beliefs.
The Position Description is available in the foyer. Please see Rev. Everett or a member of the Christian Education Ministry for more information.
For any of these events or the Sunday School Superintendent position, the appropriate person will follow up with you if you call the church at 305-621-1991 and leave your contact information.
Let us close with God’s promise to those who love Him found in I Corinthians 2:9 :
9 However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”[b]—
the things God has prepared for those who love him—
May the blessings of the Lord be with you!
